To all rodent (and other pets) lovers!?

Don’t you hate it when people say that they "OWN" an animal? Animals shouldn’t be treated as posessions, and deserve to be treated right! I have herd some pretty cool other ways of saying their experience is that they care for a pet such as:
-slave to {type of animal}
-{animal} mommy
-care provider to {animal}

So no need to tell people that you own an animal because animals are not property.

That’s kinda a strange question.

I mean, we do feel possesive of our pets, i know i hate it when my pets like some one more… and i get very pissed off and want to smack the people who knowingly feed my cats with the intention of luring them to be their pets…

but, yes i agree that yo can never truly own an animal’s spirit, and looking at them as family or friends may be better…

but technically, we own them… quite simply, we pay for them/fill out the forms for them, they are ours, but not in the same way as a handbag or shoes….

    To many animals to count over the years, currently two ferrets, two dogs, five cats, three mice, three lizards, two goats and some fish.

    right.. so if they dont own the animal they dont have to feed it or take it to the vet..

    yes you do OWN them and are responsible for them – you buy and sell them just like anything.

    you are their owner, you are not their mommy – you didnt give birth.

    even pets I adopted I own and am responsible for.

    Not really. If someone goes to a breeder or rescue or whatever and pays money and fills out forms to get the animal, they technically own it. They may be independent animals, but you own it. Its kinda like kids before they are 18. As long as you are a fit parent, you have custody over the kid. You’re not a slave, I mean what the fuck? and you’re not a caregiver because people are paid to be caregivers, and do not pay to give care.

    It takes more than ownership (money) to be a pet lover. Tender Loving Care is required. My dogs are part of the family: they get food, medicine, shelter, and love.
